Weather Report: Yahoo! Search Index Update
We'll be rolling out some changes to our crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms over the next few days and expect the update will be completed soon. As you know, throughout this process you may see some ranking changes and page shuffling in the index.

I really appreciate these updates because I noticed that one of the websites that I manage has been acting rather weird with huge swings in traffic. I think this explains it. I am hoping that with the update over, the results will be more stable.

Hi Verma! We met @ ses earlier...I've heard and seen several sites losing a majority of their rankings in Yahoo last month. Is this a result of the Aug update? If someone feels that their rankings have been removed in error (i.e. they own an authority/quality site that previously ranked well)what do you suggest they do? I'm tempted to sit tight and see how it all plays out with this new update...is there a possibility that some of those who suffered heavy ranking losses for no immediately obvious reason could get them back from this update?
Thanks so much for clarifying this!

Yahoo Search Index is always so quick and remarkably effective. My newly updated site also got indexed so quick...

The results seem to get worse each update, and explanation?

Worst update, all my friends have lost their ranking on their targeted keywords, duplicate site comes up first than the original site.

I wish I better understood how these changes will affect my site so I could make adjustments as needed to improve my placement.

As stated by Java Tutor, "The results seem to get worse each update, and explanation?" 5 months running...
1. I note that the more we expand the less relevant we become, should we be opening a new web for every product or service we sell ?
2. I see no improvements on spam, so here is a suggestion... take every web site on page one of your web results who have never placed adds on Yahoo and put then back 10 pages and watch your adverting base increase.

3. Forget natural listings, have paid listings manage the top 10 or 20 spots, followed by natural listings.
PS we may reconsider or current advertizing stance.

Thanks for the Update in this Blog. But I still see a lot of old URLs showing up for my sites www.silicon.de and www.zdnet.de that should be killed for a while due to 301 redirects to the new urls. Kind regards Thomas
