New Tools in the Toolbar

We've been working hard on the Yahoo! Toolbar for IE and Firefox so heres a quick update for you all.

On the IE front we've added support for tabbed browsing (yay!). The latest release (v 6.3) now includes the ability to use tabbed browsing from within Internet Explorer 5 and 6 so you can tab to your hearts content in advance of the Internet Explorer 7 release.

On the Firefox side, we just released version 1.1.1 for all our supported counties. This improves a few things you've told us about with bookmarks, mail alerts, and Anti Spy, among other things.

Deliciousness
Speaking of changes, you must have heard about del.icio.us by now! People use del.icio.us to save and share web favorites. We've just created a del.icio.us button for our US users. You add it to your IE or Firefox toolbar to get easy access to your del.icio.us account from anywhere on the web. If you already have toolbar installed, you can add it with a click, otherwise, find it on the Add/Edit Buttons page in the "Personal Tools" section.

Grab the latest toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com and let us know if you have any suggestions.

It is nice but if u would provide to add personal categories it will be pretty useful...

I am not thrilled by the tab browsing that was introduced in the first beta about two months ago. Basically it's the same as the multitab intriduced this summer by MSN: it opens several occurences of IE in the background and burn up your CPU...
I like however the suggestive feature when doing a search

Delicious but no Flickr? How about a Flickr one with "View Your Photos," "View Friends" and "View Everyone" (and more)!

yummm, flickr, now that'd be delicious.

What I'd like to see with the yahoo toolbar for Firefox is that it refresh itself better. Currently it will still say you have x new messages in your email after you check it unless you click "refresh toolbar" and wait a few seconds. IE refreshes it automatically, it would be cool if firefox could as well.

Hello gentlemen, and thanks for continuing to work on this!

It was happening for a while, then stopped and lately it's happening again repeatedly - IE browser crashes, and the reason reported is that the crash is due to the Yahoo toolbar.

I still enjoy using the toolbar, particularly to run the adware detection periodically, and to fetch my ISP email. Hope all the bugs get ironed out, and thanks again!

Marcia: Thanks for the note. I'm going to ping you to see if your problem is one we've fixed in an upcoming patch -- or if it's a problem we haven't seen yet. Thank you! /duke

Woha, Does this thing rock?

It's wonderful, why didn't I try it when i read about it.

How about custom buttons like Google Toolbar 4?

Duke, looks like the patch worked. So far so good, no longer any IE crashes.

Thanks!

Flickr now there!!! YES!!!

Need more than 1000 for bookmarks, need personalized toolbar like the new google.( cant beat google's new toolbar now)
add form fill, add personalized streaming feeds. personalized weather like how many degrees right on the icon,

One word to sum it all,,, needs to be PERSONALIZED more.

Now there is a Flickr button too.

Go to pencil menu >> Personal Options >> Add/Edit Buttons...

And look under Personal Tools.

Or just try clicking here to add Flickr to your Yahoo! Toolbar:

Anything for canadian users ??? Disappointing...

Mulitabbed browsing:

I downloaded multitab yahoo toolbar at office and at home. Office computer has no issues but at home I only get yahoo toolbar but not the tabbed browsers.

What went wrong in my installation?

I have received several support calls today, all about IE6 "crashing". Clients starts IE6, then it shuts down at once. Every one had Yahoo toolbar. Removed the toolbar and problem is gone. Has their been an update today?

Crashes on SeaMonkey when it sees the new Yahoo home page, every time: Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error. I don't want the new page but it comes up now automatically. If not fixed I will have to remove Yahoo as my home page. Also, I hate web beacons and moving advertisements.

Macs work; Windoze break...

I find yahoo closes IE if it can't retrieve the buttons from yahoo all I did to fix the problem for my clients is uninstall yahoo. Problem fixed.

Hi Darrell,

From your IP address it looks like you're coming in from Canada. We released a new version of the Canadian toolbar last week and it caused a problem for some of the older 5.x toolbars.

We fixed the problem earlier this week so you shouldn't be seeing it any longer. Go ahead and upgrade to the latest version of the toolbar by going to http://toolbar.yahoo.com so you get the latest features like tabs and better search.

Thanks,

Please inform how to get rid of this Yahoo toolbar? it crahes my IE6 all the time,
I cant uninstall from control panel remove programs. and it wont uninstall from yahoo`s own remove yahoo toolbar under the little pencil.

This is not a program i have installed it must have been bundled with something else?

please free us from such trojan virus like undesirable progams that cannot be unistalled.

Not a serious program Yahoo.

I'm getting the IE crash too. And I'm so sad.. I use the yahoo toolbar all day at work on my desktop there but come home to my brand-new laptop and can't use it. I've uninstalled, reinstalled - loaded in Mozilla Firefox and got the yahoo toolbar for that one and that crashed too. Is there anything that can be done to get my laptop up and running with the TB on it?

The new upgrade to yahoo toolbar had many issues, such as no anti spy like the previous toolbars.I don't like anti spy through Norton, you are pushing it down our throats. Also with new toolbar you have running in background YTBSDK,that program just slows down mty computer.I also had the problem of your new toolbar taking over my google toolbar and placing two yahoo toolbars on my browser.Your toolbar in the past were ok and I used it more the anything else even though it had a problem that came with it called Iexplore.exe and believe me that causes many crashes. Please make it just a toolbar and nothing else please please.====Thanks Paul

damn yahoo tooolbar, how to remove it?!?!? can't remoce from control panel or under the pencil as thomas keep said!!

vj - what version and platform are you on?

Yahoo's new toolbar (6.3.6*) is conflicting with my Google Toolbar. For example, IE (6.0) View-Toolbars, un/checking Yahoo Toolbar & Google Toolbar (4.0) are reversed.
Also, Yahoo Toolbar Close Tabs/Close All Tabs shuts down my IE all together, instead of closing any Yahoo Tabs.
*I chose the option of downloading Yahoo Toolbar 6.3.6 without Norton.

When is the rest of the world outside the US going to get the del.icio.us button for the Yahoo toolbar? At the moment we can't add this button in the UK, but we use del.icio.us too!

The Yahoo toolbar is constantly crashing my IE6. It started about 2 days and hasn't stopped since. It's been buggy for weeks, but now it has completely messed up - X's where the icons should be, I'll manage to get explorer opened without crashing and the toolbar will be in a different place, and of course, 9 out of 10 times it crashes every time I open IE6. Is there not a fix for this yet? Don't say "uninstall" because I have about 4.7 million bookmarks (slight exaggeration).

delete all yahoo keys from registery
then uninstall yahoo toolbar from control panel/add remove programs
then restart your machine

Today downloaded Yahoo tool bar for IE 7. Then every time I opened IE 7 it immediately crashed. Had to Uninstall IE 7 and go back to IE 6 to be able to use it! Why would Yahoo release such a buggy program?

Addenda to my above post: It was Yahoo Tool Bar for IE7 BETA. It consistently crashed IE7 until I uninstalled IE 7 and returned to IE 6.

I have used yahoo as my home page for about ten years now. But, there is a new wind blowing tonight. I hate computer programs that try to take control of my computer. Even more, I hate companies who shove their products down my throat. I put IE7 on my computer without realizing I was getting the dubious "bonus" of the yahoo toolbar. I happen to like my Google toolbar, and the yahoo toolbar just clutters up my browser. But, what really pisses me off is, yahoo does not give you a way to disable, or even hide, the yahoo toolbar. Yes, I have read that you click on the "Edit" icon then select the "Remove Yahoo Toolbar" (or some such steps). After figuring out how to access the "Edit" icon (by using Tools/Toolbars/Customize" then selecting "Edit" then clicking on "Add" then clickingon "Close") I see that I must be on some random web page to get the "Edit" icon to move froma greyed out icon to an enabled icon. when I click on the "Edit" icon after it is enabled, I get four options, each some edit option such as ucing Excel, or Word. There is not a "Remove Toolbar" or any other such choice. The instruciton for removing the toolbar that I give here is from Yahoo's own web site. What really pisses me off more than anything, is a bullying company shoving thier product down my thorat then lying to me about how to remove their piece of crap. So, to solve this problem, I am going to ermove IE7 and make Google my home page inste3ad of yahoo. Maybe all of you computer illiterate people find some measure of joy in using this yahoo productr, bout for me, it is an unwated intrusion into my personal space.

If you are trying to uninstall it through Control Panel > Add-Remove programs without success as well as from the toolbar itself (using the pencil icon - older version or trying the I-do-not-really-want-to help-you-uninstall-this guide from Yahoo) with no luck try installing it again and then uninstalling from the control panel. It worked fine for me

My internet explorer crashes everytime I try to close my yahoo email account. And, yes, I have Windows XP- which evidently cannot be used with the new Internet Explorer. Is there anything I can do to make my computer usable again???
