Use Yahoo! Shopping Data on Your Site

We're excited to announce the Yahoo! Shopping API, a new product that enables Web site owners and software developers to use Yahoo! comparison shopping data in their sites and applications.

Using the Shopping API, developers can create applications that search the Yahoo! database of millions of products and thousands of merchants, displaying prices and enabling searches in new and innovative ways.

With the Product Search API, you can search by keyword; limit your search to a specific merchant, price range or product category, and filter merchants according to their Yahoo! User ratings.

The Price Comparison Grid API gives developers access to millions of products offered by multiple merchants, returning base price, tax and shipping info and total price (based on zip code).

If you're a software developer, you can get the all the information on using the Shopping API on the Yahoo! Developer Network site. If you're a user of Yahoo! Shopping and you want to see how third parties are connecting with Yahoo! Shopping, stay tuned. We'll report back soon with examples of applications and sites that use Yahoo! Shopping data.

Hmmm. Ok, so you get free data. But, the other big boys give you a little more incentive to use their API and data...getting paid for referring sales and account sign-ups. Is that in the plans for the shopping API?

What does this Yahoo Price Comparison API do? Can we earn money by displaying this data as webmasters? We have a similar site like Yahoo shopping called www.PriceComparison.com. Thinking of maybe providing this Yahoo as a secondary data.

Well no offense guys but a shopping api with out a monetization model is a real loser for the web master. While the APIs at Shopping.com and other providers aren't as cool or extensive, they do offer a clear path to generate revenue. Getting free customers for your merchants in the shopping program is less than appealling. Once you have a revenue sharing plan in place I will gladly develop apps using the API

Its great rather technically but not financially coz there's not any revenue earning plan.
But I'm here to know how to format and layout the product catalog listing using protocol REST?
I couldn't find any examples regarding this.
Can you help me out by providing one example and it will be great if its using PHP.

Cool, but 2 questions: 1) I'd like to earn some affiliate dollars from these APIs. Do you have an affiliate program similar to eBay? 2) Your license says I can't commercialize my application. What gives?

Do API's for comparison sites offer the same benefits as targeted content search advertising? I'm pondering that same thing for PriceCheck.co.za for searches of digital cameras, laptops, wines, etc.
