This is one of the most useless and annoying feature I have run across.
If it were off by default with an opt in feature then it would be worthwhile. As it is and is being copied like automobile designs, When searching for a specific term and being subjected to a load of like kind and irrelevant terms it becomes a handicap. Remeniscent of the days of Payolla in Radio.

After I turned OFF “search assist”-now I have DOUBLE CLICK to remove another drop down banner telling me that “search assist is turned off”–redundant delay for user trying to get to his page.
