Yahoo! Search logs gave a revealing picture of what the King of Pop evokes for people as they mourned his passing today. Starting last night, searches for his legendary music surged. “Thriller,” “Man in the Mirror,” and “Billie Jean” were among the top lyrics, songs, and videos that people looked for on Yahoo! Search. As details of Jackson’s death emerge, searchers are looking for details on prescription drugs including Demerol, the hospital Jackson was taken to after he collapsed (UCLA Medical Center), and other lingering questions (”why did Michael Jackson die”).
Details of Jackson’s controversial and sometimes disturbing life emerged again in Yahoo! search data as we saw searches for “Michael Jackson plastic surgery”, photos of the singer, and “was Michael Jackson abused as a child.”
Jackson’s death set multiple records across Yahoo!. Our front page story “Michael Jackson Rushed to Hospital” was the highest clicked story in our history, and Yahoo! News saw an all-time record in unique visitors yesterday. Yodel Anecdotal’s post on losing Michael Jackson captures even more details on how the online world reacted to his death.

There are two words that are most important to me when remembering Michael Jackson:
Benevolent: “characterized by or expressing goodwill or kindly feelings”
and
Devine: “of superhuman or surpassing excellence”
In addition to his unique talents as a performer, I believe these characteristics will have the most lasting affect and move many future generations to hail him as godly.
We should all thank the lord for having blessed us with this blissful child that never grew up!

It is amazing to remember how popular MJ was/is. Throngs showed up at the hospital when the news of his health broke.
He was a huge star. It is interesting to see the effects in Internet.
Soooo sad for Michael and the BET was great I wished they would have put that Roda Monroe tribute song there but she wasn’t. I’m just so miseable and in mourning I just keep listening to his music.
He was the best of the best – I was so looking forward to seeing him in London. The sky is slightly dimer without that star in it.

He was a talent business man, almost a myth, but there´s no need to argue so much about his death!

It was definitely one of the most devastating moments of my life when I saw the news that MJ was gone. May he rest in peace.

The news continues to exploit Michael Jackson’s death. This ‘video’ of his hair catching fire during that Pepsi commercial is more notorius now than it was when it happened. Too much information! Let him rest in peace. We don’t need to know every single intimate, painful or joyful event in his life and henceforth I will not indulge in any medium that continues to bring him up. The public that really loves him should speak on this as well because beyond the news of his death and his memorial, you know that it’s milking, and milking his death for profit. Those tabloid news shows are the worse but network news stations are bringing up this video as well. It is all very, very creepy and eerie and due respect is not given to someone who gave so much to us. The world is a little darker without Michael. There is indeed a void.

The music was great – in the 80’s and some songs are a little timeless, but there are better artists our there that have passed away in my opinion.
i pray to god give place MJ in heaven.
Michael had a gift from God to entertain us and make us feel good. I can’t remember one song that I didn’t a least pop a finger to. His contributions to the world are too great to mention. I think of him as a little brother and I wish that I had met him as an adult and given him a hug. He appeared at the Regal Theatre in about April 1968 when I thought I was going to see a superb group called the Five Stairsteps that originated in Chicago. They were awesome but I remember seeing this little boy singing “I’m a Big Boy Now” while his brothers played back up. Little did I know that I was witnessing someone who would go on to be a phenomena. I loved his brothers too and was sort of put out when the industry separated him from his brothers and acted as though they had no talent. People should not do that to families. Those type of decisions should be made by families and in some ways I believe that was the beginning of Michael’s demise. He had no one out there to compete with because he was the consummate performer.
Michael had staying power too. How many of the artists of today do you think will last 42 years in the business? They make their millions and run and Michael was always busy recreating himself and he was genius at it. I’ve said it before and I guess it’s getting tired but it’s true: the world is a little darker, a little less lively without him. Out of all of his works, he never madee a song that demeaned a female. Billy Jean was more cute than riske. Yes, he will be missed and while I love him, I truly wish that he would have passed the children on to Janet because Janet seems to be a very solid sister and successful. I used to love to hear her talk about Michael. I love them all, but particularly her and Jermaine. Janet is still relatively young and I do believe that she loves those kids and would be excellent to rear them. Katherine would need help with this anyway. I also hope that there is no family infighting with regards to the money that the outside vultures will try to pick dry. I just hope that my sweet Michael will be able to rest in peace at last. The world had become too hard on him and I hope people realize that there is a hereafter. His body is gone but his soul is still intuned with what’s going on. RIP Michale
