I tried using the Dashboard, which was OK and full of relevant chunks. On the search output I tried 'Palin debate' and the output was a bit sparse, but could have used more white space at that (IMHO) to improve readability.

What I would REALLY like to see is some real-time streaming feature so that if you stay on the page you will see new comments and micro-blog results come in via an AJAX style refresh.. that would be a wonderful companion to have during a debate or on election night itself...!

This looks fantastic - I especially like the really visual snapshot you get for typing in 'presidential election'. It's great for people who aren't that political but want to know how its all going, very useable. I wonder if any other searches trigger this response?

I love the way Yahoo! keeps me informed of the latest news seamlessly while I work. Very convenient indeed.
