Weather Report: Yahoo! Search Index Update
We’ll be rolling out some changes to our crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms over the next few days, but expect the update will be completed soon. As you know, throughout this process you may see some ranking changes and page shuffling in the index.

Now that Yahoo will be able to search (SWF) Adobe Flash files – will this technology be reflected in your new update (as of July 1st) …..
Surprised you haven’t done a post about it yet – it will be interesting to see how this will ultimately effect the rankings of heavily flash designed sites
I’m guessing the main reason they haven’t posted anything about the SWF indexing thing is that they’re not ready to roll it out, yet. In the Adobe press release it said Yahoo is working on it for release at a future date. I’m guessing this update is just a “regular” update, and I’m sure they’ll let us know when it happens. If you do have a date when that will happen, I’d be interested to hear as well.
well if they can search flash files that will make a big difference for flash heavy sites. it has always been difficult to balance a visually stunning site with search engine compatability but this will be one step in that direction. we will see I guess.
It would be desirable to learn more in detail about a practical technique of application of all of it.

I’d also like to learn more about it… Is it possible to compare the relevance of a html site with a flash site?
WHAT? You want to compare the relevance of html and flash. That doesn’t work!!!
is there an update to this post? Haven’t found one…
