I think that users should have a choice if they want to search for only images or only videos or choose to integrate images and videos throughout the search results along with traditional search result. Let the user decide.

It is rather sad to see the effects of social media SEO on such sites as Digg and more recently YouTube.

This sort of defeats the essential purpose and virtue of this democratic media.

You can see the controversy of the recent post on TechCrunch about YouTube optimization, as well as the penetrating effect from Digg on news articles blogs posts and the types of stories chosen and the titles given.
