We just rolled out a new search index last night. So, as usual, you may see some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index throughout this process. This update should be complete very soon.
Thank you to all that have submitted spam reports through Site Explorer. These reports are continuously being included in our index updates. We’ve received some very high-quality feedback and have found these useful to keep spam out of our results.
Keep the feedback coming.

Does yahoo consider paid links to be spam? I’ve read yes in some places and no in others, so any authoratative information would be appreciated. If so, I will have MUCH to report :).
It seems definitely that backlinks are becoming more and more important, at least with the last two updates.
When an update occurs does this usually lower pages in the serp and then when its complete add more? Has this happened to anyone else thanks.
That’s happened to a few of my sites before, but I wouldn’t say it is a general rule…
@WW: With the way Yahoo tracks backlinks as compared to Google, this could get very interesting :).
I would think this far in the game Y would already have a template to build on…. I didn’t have to look far to be thoroughly discouraged once again by spam sites….perhaps a merger with the big G will save Y.
BlackHatBros I’m on my way!
Good Job
I’m wondering; now Google owns Feedburner – will you still be using a Google service to distribute the RSS feed of the Yahoo! Search blog?
coxy
I doubt they will… there won’t ever be a merger between Google and Yahoo, because they’re both quite stubborn. It’s not like they’ll just meet at a trade show and start chatting and then BAM, deal!
Thanks for the update ;)
Overall the SERPS seem to be improved but I notice there is still a fair but of flux in the .co.uk listings. Yesterday the flux made a great improvement but it seems to have rolled back.
I am seeing a ton of blogspot spam, suspended googlegroup sites and .edu sites that are cloaked clogging up rankings for many financial terms. I sent several SPAM reports, but have seen no action. This is no questionable stuff, it is blatant garbage.
What’s the deal Yahoo!?
Why? i wants to just know if yahoo is very fast updating with weather then how come it become slow and slow day by day in search engine? Any idea, does yahoo is making any changes in searching criteria.
I agree Jon i have noticed this problem too, its becoming more & more difficult to keep this trash out of my directory and also sometimes good informal sites get included.
Th result was not as good as it was before. A lot of wiki pages and old ebay auction pages showing…..
