Curry in London. Weather in Jaipur

Yahoo! is expanding its mobile reach to a few more countries. We just launched Yahoo! oneSearch Beta in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. We’re now in 14 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada (launched on 5/3) and the U.S.

Users in these countries can now access News, Finance, Weather, Web, Mobile Web, Flickr, and Image search results on their mobile devices. And, for UK and Canada users, local search results are a part of the oneSearch experience. Accessing all of this information is easy for folks across a number of geographic locations. Folks in the UK, for example, can now look for curry in the West End, while travelers in India can find the temperature in Jaipur. Quick news headlines in Singapore are also just a click away.

We hope you enjoy the product. Let us know what you think.

  1. I will check it out.

  2. so nice :o)

I updated Y!MobActus (mobile experiment site with Yahoo! France news) which use oneSearch for its “Tags-du-jour” (aka “daily tag cloud”).

  3. I got it set up.
    Very cool

  4. It’s a very cool feature. Thanks!

  5. This information is really helpful. Thanks to Yahoo!

  6. Thanks for info :)

  7. Hopefully the spread of information to those countries will help boost the spread of free thought, commerce, etc. Who would have thought Vietnam and Indonesia would be good places to start? Nice job…

  8. Hello Paul,

It would be really nice for us UK folk to be included in the new Mail beta – it’s so much better than the standard Mobile Web Mail, and also cool have a link to Flickr (m.flickr.com) and Upcoming (m.upcoming.yahoo.com) on uk.m.yahoo.com

Also, I don’t quite agree with the classification of ‘Mobile Web’ and ‘Web’ results in OneSearch. I’d personally prefer to see much more ‘Web’ results, and to scrap the ‘Mobile Web’ results – I feel like my search terms and results are being limited.

I’m also interested to find out how the search defines a website as a ‘Mobile Web’ result.

    Regards,

    coxy

  9. Yeah I agree, scrap the mobile results… not terribly useful.

  10. Yes I like This

  11. I just got a data plan on my mobile. I pretty much do not need my computer anymore since I do so much with my mobile phone. The neatest thing is that I can even watch naughty movies:) It is pretty neat, it’s called Mobile TV. All I do is point my phone to sexoncell.com and they have adult mobile movies in different formats like 3gp movies, symbian, pda or whatever. If you have any other cool sites, please let me know! This one, though, even has a free daily mobile movie.

  12. No need for a data plan on your mobile…

  13. Yes, if we can make purchases on the mobile phone would be great!

  14. It has to be a funny saying, like Molestation Nursery is funny because it’s a nursery, and there’s molestation going on. What the hell is Run Escape? That doesn’t even make sense grammatically, and it’s retarded. And what exactly is TexaSexes??? Nothing! Exactly! Therefore it does not fit in this category.
