Announcing The Yahoo! Publisher Network Self-Serve Beta

You may have heard a few href="http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=4434">rumors
over the past few months about Yahoo! developing more solutions for
small- and medium-sized publishers. Well, those rumors are true, and
we’re 100% committed to living up to them.

I’m proud to announce today that Yahoo! has launched a beta network
in the U.S. for small- and medium-sized publishers. Currently
available through invitation only, as Yahoo! tests and refines the new
platform, small- and medium-sized publishers can easily sign up online
and access new revenue sources and enhanced Yahoo! content through our
new self-serve platform. Our goal is to extend the beta to more
publishers by the end of the year.

We spoke to many Web publishers throughout our alpha phase to get a
sense of what you want out of a publishing platform. Several things
became clear: In addition to the obvious — competitive revenue
opportunities – you expressed a desire for more ways to enhance the
content of your sites and connect with your users. You also indicated
that you’d like more control – not only over how ads appear, but also
over what types of ads appear on their sites. In addition, the
publishers we spoke to expressed a need for more accessible customer
service.

We heard those requests, and we’ve built a beta product that
addresses those needs. Our new self-serve platform will offer
publishers new sources of revenue, starting with our Content Match
contextual advertising product, and one-stop access to unique Yahoo!
products, such as “Add to
My Yahoo!
” buttons and Yahoo!’s href="http://yq.search.yahoo.com/publisher/index.html">Y!Q beta.
The Yahoo! Publisher Network self-serve beta will also offer phone
and email customer service and in the coming weeks, will feature ad
targeting capabilities to publishers. And that’s just the beginning.
Down the road look for more opportunities through the self-serve
platform that draw from other types of Yahoo! content (Think: Web
search, “Add to My Web” buttons, RSS advertising, shopping…).

As we gather feedback from our initial beta phase, we’ll further
shape and refine our new products and services to bring to the entire
global publishing community. We’ve already received a lot of great
feedback from you, and hope that you’ll continue to send us your
questions, ideas and “wish lists.” We hope all of our publishers,
advertisers and users find the Yahoo! Publisher Network as valuable as
we think it is and we can’t wait to hear your comments.

With the program aimed at small- and medium-sized web sites, I hope Yahoo sets their payment schedule lower than Google’s AdSense. Then it would be a true value to those lesser-read blogs that must feel like they will never get a check from Google.

Hello,

You know what would really be nice? Support for web publishers living outside the US. Like me.

I, for example, run a growing adsense supported forum for citizens of a large West African country, where I live.

But only 16.7% of my traffic is local – 41.6% of my traffic is from the US, 12% is from the UK, and the rest spread around the world.

Surely, such a website is of value to even US-based advertisers, though the owner isn’t US-based. What are you doing to take advantage of websites such as mine?

Seun.

I’ve been pretty wary about using AdSense because of all the horror stories I hear from people who have had their accounts disabled due to “fraudulent” clicks. I’m looking at YPN mostly because I’d like to work with a company that won’t disable me without even telling me why. Please don’t credit us for fraudulent clicks… but don’t disable us, either!

Yeah, I was disabled by Google Adsense, and I did not cheat (I run a fairly popular website). I wrote them, no reply. I’m certain whatever Yahoo provides will be better than that. Anyone know how long the approval process takes? I applied to YPN a couple days ago.

I was previously with Adsense also and was banned for “fradulent clicks.” I guess my members just clicked ads randomly. I use kanoodle ads now. They are not good at all and I am expecting yahoo to be a much better alternative.

I cant wait to test/use it!

If Yahoo detects invalid clicks on a publisher’s site, will Yahoo simply filter out the invalid ones and not discontinue the publisher’s entire account?

1] All the other Big companies[like Adsense] are taking advantage of publishers b/c THey things they are the only 1 in market…
2] Adsense support is very bad that I dont have words, No replies+No security[I think]==I create acount [didnt receive their PIN untill 3 months [+NO replies]
3] Every1 wants new and Best support at same time

4] b/c I dont like adsense:D

I just got the Google “Account Disabled” email because they said I had “invalid clicks”. I have never clicked on my own ads and am disgusted at the way they have treated a loyal and honest customer. They have failed to reply to my email trying to get my account re-instated. I hope the Yahoo Publisher Network gets out of Beta soon so we can all join it. I suspect there will be a lot of sites that have been banned for life from AdSense for no good reason that will flock to this new service when it is generally available.

Well done Yahoo! Goodbye arrogant Google.

I have just one request of YPN!. If you detect invalid clicks on a web site simply withhold the money for those clicks. Don’t do what Google does (i.e disable the account, take all the money in the account to date that hasn’t been paid and ban that person from using AdSense for the rest of their life). If you search for “AdSense Account Disabled” in any search engine you will see the thousands of former AdSense customers who have been thrown out of the program because of circumtances beyond their control. All these sites will use YPN as long as you don’t adopt the same policy as Google AdSense.

Bravo Yahoo! 5 days before they were due to send me a check for $120 Google AdSense cancelled my account because they said I had been clicking on my own ads. I have never been so insulted in all my life.

Attempts to contact Google Support resulted in a stoney silence. Can’t wait to try out Yahoo’s offering.

I agree with the posts above. If Yahoo can filter out invalid clicks rather than disabling the user accounts, I do believe most Adsense publishers will quit Google immediately. Why? Google is too arrogant. The customer service of this company will finally hurt its reputation. Adsense team disabled the publisher account without any evidence. They said our sites have invalid clicks. How can we avoid our site to expose to the countries or people who are suspected to generate invalid clicks? When this giant internet company cannot do it, how we, as a small publishers, can achieve this goal!

I have found AdSense to be nothing but a nightmare. Their support is attrocious. If you email them a question you wait 3 days for a reply and when it arrives it is a cut and paste boilerplate answer that makes it perfectly clear they didn’t even read the message.

They have billions of dollars in cash and some of the best engineers on the planet (or so they claim) but cannot answer simple questions ina timely manner and disable accounts without any investigation into invalid clicks. If Yahoo can get this right they will have many “AdSense Refugees” coming to them and bringing them business.

well i think yahoo will somehow take over 50% google adsense business in end of next year. ( if they cam out of beta soon). but what i think yahoo is missing a good search engine. i think they need much more intension in that field too. people go and type google.com and search. rather than typing search.yahoo.com ,to do good with pay per click business one should have a good support system too.

My only question is The adjusted balance at the end of the month? I wonder what the adjustment difference will be. I’d like to know if it’s a small difference or huge. I just got my ads up on Tuesday & it’s already ran circles around my Google balance. Bye Bye Google.

Hello All!

Actually, it is sure to believe that google trying to become Microsoft by stealing publishers income. Where they think most of the people click their own ads. And if your earning goes more than $500 in any month, it is sure you will be banned. There is no alternative for publishers, so they believe you must signup again with another domain and also use it your previous popular site, and they will approve you and also send pin number. But after three months, when u just waiting to get 1st month payment, you will receive a mail:

“Hello (Name) , Your AdSense account was found to be related to an account previously disabled for invalid click activity and we have therefore disabled your account. Publishers disabled for invalid click activity are not allowed further participation in AdSense and do not receive any further payment. The earnings on your account will be properly returned to the affected advertisers. As outlined in our program Terms and Conditions, Google reserves the right to terminate any publisher’s participation at any time. Sincerely, The Google AdSense Team”

So, they are stealing all publishers 7 months income (3 & half and 3 & half). It is sure “The earnings on your account will be properly returned to the affected advertisers” this will never happened coz there is no single clicks by you specially 2nd time. And they found your previously disabled website 3 months later just before when you are waiting to get 1st month payment check.

If they got more than $3000 just from 1 publisher, how many publishers banneding daily? And Google’s real income using this publisher websites must be $3000 X 5 if they give 20% to publishers.

Most of webmasters try his best to make his site popular to earn from ads. So, they try hard. No day! No night! No holiday. But after 7 months, they got a “0” income.

So, we publishers want no income from invalid clicks; even accept lower commissions from Yahoo’s actual earning from advertiser but a warranty not to be banned.

Thanks All

I have been running adsense ads on my sites for more than a year. and have been in on the beta for ypn and I am not real impressed with ypn.

Either they do not have the advertiser base or have yet to figure out how to match the ads to the content on the publishers website.

I run 6 websites at first I ran 3 with google adsense and 3 with YPN as a test now I have 5 with adsense and 1 with YPN because my visitors are not clicking on the same 5 ads yahoo is showing on each and every page of my site because they are not related to what my site is about. I have made thousands from google adsense this month and barely 100.00 from yahoo but im keeping my fingers crossed because i dont want all my eggs in one basket. And google is kinda uppity

I applied to YPN and it only took 2 days. It is really fast. I hope yahoo will be better than adsense. With too many accounts disabled each day, I am afraid to use my adsense. Publishers are not stupid to click on their own ads just to get a few dollars.

I think Yahoo SHOULD just ignore invalid clicks. If they feel that 100% of the clicks are invalid, then just ignore it. It is better to hear that than disabling your account. Hehe.

Yahoo will take the lead and will force Google to make some changes in their program. This is what I think. With the number of banned accounts and the thought of being INSECURE with GOOGLE, publishers will look for a safer ground. hopefully it will be Yahoo!

I used Google’s AdSense for a couple of months, making very little $$ at first, but then my site got popular and my income started increasing, I was happy and all…

Then I tried their FireFox referral program, which means you get *up to* USD1.00 for each person downloads FireFox using your Google button. A friend of mine downloaded it on the 1st day (he told me afterwards so I knew it was him), he was very happy with it because he liked FireFox much better. So I was pretty happy too coz I was offered the opportunity to improve my friends’ browsing experience while making some extra cash for myself.

Then, a few days later, another friend of mine used the same button to download and install FireFox on the PC’s at work. He made a couple of downloads and he told me afterwards. So I was expecting to get a few extra bucks from that.

But no it didn’t happen. My record showed that there were clicks but no earnings were made. So I emailed Google and asked about this.

Guess what I got in return? They actually banned me just because someone who liked FireFox and downloaded it using my Google button happen to be my friends !

What is that all about? Isn’t that FireFox referral program meant to help more people switch to FireFox? And I got banned because I successfully helped making it happen?

It’s not like I told my friends to click on my ads or anything like that. My site is a personal blog, of course the visitors are most likely my own friends, and thus it’s likely that they trust whatever I’ve got to offer !

I just don’t get it and I’m super disappointed at Google.

WHY PUBLISHERS ARE LEAVING GOOGLE ADSENSE OR THINKING OF LEAVING GOOGLE ADSENSE NONSENSE

PUBLISHERS ARE LEAVING GOOGLE ADSENSE PROGRAM

1. NO TRANPARENCY IN THEIR PROGRAM
2. GOOGLE FOREFIET THEIR MONEY.
3.GOOGLE PUNISH INNOCENT SMALL PUBLISHERS.
4. GOOGLE DOSENT HAVE ANY MECHANISM TO PREVENT INVALID CLICK OR EVEN JUDGE IT.
5. THEY HAVE VERY SLOW CUSTOMERS SERVICE TO REPLY TO QUERIES OF PUBLISHERS.
6. YOUR APPEALS ARE NOT HEARD IF YOUR ACCOOUNT IS DISABLED.
7. THEY TREAT PUBLISHERS LIKE CRIMINALS.
8. THEY HUMILIATE PUBLISHERS.
9. IF THEY DISABLE YOUR ACCOUNT THEN YOU MANUALLY HAVE TO REMOVE ALL THEIR CODES & IT DESTROYS PUBLISHERS & WEBMASTERS WEBSITES.
10. THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE HOW MUCH MONEY THEY ARE GOING TO PAY TO YOU OR HOW MUCH PROFIT THEY ARE SHARING WITH PUBLISHERS & HOW MUCH THEY ARE LOOTING.
11. THEY PLACE COOKISE IN YOUR COMPUTER & GET ALL THE INFORMATION O YOUR WEB SURFING HABITS.
12. THEY ARE TRYING TO DICTATE & OVERTAKE INTERNET ADVERTISING.
13. WHEN THEY DISABLE PUBLISHERS ACCOUNT THEY ALSO DEBAR PUBLISHERS FROM SUBMITTING THEIR WEBSITES TO GOOGLE SEARCHE ENGINE.
14. GOOGLE ALSO PUNISH PUBLISHERS & WEBMASTERS BY CHANGING THEIR POLICIES FREQUENTLY WITHOUT MOST PUBLISHERS KNOWING ABOUT IT BY INSERTING CLAUSES IN THEIR TERMS & CONDITIONS WHICH ARE AGAINST THE INTEREST OF PUBLISHERS SO THAT THEY FIND IT DIFFICULT CLAIM DAMAGES IN THE COURTS.
15.GOOGLE DOES NOT DECLARE TO PUBLISHERS AS TO HOW MUCH THEY ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THEIR BLOODY TOOLBAR.
16.THEY HAVE BECOME ARROGANT & TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE INTERNET.
17.THEY HUMILIATE THEIR PUBLISHERS.

After running 3 months, i recieved an email from Yahoo team saying that my site got temperorly suspended and it is under quality teams review and will inform the final status ASAP. I said ok, becoz thr no fraud clicks for sure.

It’s been 2 months already i am waiting for yahoo quality teams email. When i contact yahoo publisher support, they said they cannot do anything now because it is still under review. This is the third month/.

Yahoo called my home phone multiple times just to ask me how everything was working.. You can’t get better service than having the company call you and ask about their products. That’s just F’n awesome.

There were a few glitches in the YPN system, but they explained to me exactly why they were like that and were extremely polite in the process.

All I have to say is keep on the ball Yahoo, word of mouth advertising is all you’re going to need if the service stays this good!

Great. Because I hate Google and I loathe AdSense!!! Can’t wait to see Yahoo bury Google alive in 2-3 years in PPC market.

Forgot to add my biggest irk with Google monsters. Their pathetic, BS motto: “don’t be evil”…

Are they freakin’ kidding us with that nonsense?

They have become the epitome of EVIL!!!

Worthless jackasses. I cannot wait for Yahoo Publisher to launch worldwide and bury Google where they belong. In the ground with the worms and the slugs.

I think Google doing this because he has monopoly market at present i,e no competiors.
He forget that publishers are also a major part of marketing or advertisement source.
Google killing meany good publishers to banner them forever.

One day will be come when those number of publishers will take a form of EVERAST.
The dayes is not so far when meany honest publsiher will be fight against “google adsence” with the support of “yahoo” in our vast Internet landscape.

so beware google …..no one is king except “GOD”.
Think it again………………..

I just wanted to throw in one more request for YPN to begin accepting Canadian sites. My Google Adsense experience mirror most of the ones written above although I wonder about being able to use YPN ads on Blogger blogs, since Google now owns Blogger. Anyone have suspicions that they might try to block YPN from Blogger?

I have not received any news from yahoo either, you would think they would respond quickly and approve sites so that they could get paid! Anybody have an invite they want to shoot my way can send it to the following email address… feedback@blogforcapital.com

Want to keep track on your Yahoo! publishers revenues?
I just download a new application called PublisherZ Monitor that can monitor your Yahoo! publishers revenues. You can download it from their web site at http://www.publisherz.com

Yahoo has been very late. Google has captured the ad market — at least in India. All small and medium businesses have joined adwords. I doubt how much success will it get after such a long delay?

All sounds great, but one problem…. If you ever have a problem, you get ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Me , personally, have been waiting 2 weeks for a response from a customer service rep. I have emailed 7-10 times, asking for assistance. All I get is an automated response that someone will contact me within 24 hours. That was weeks ago. With bad service , just makes me run from this company.
P.S. They have no problems charging me on time though.

Hi guys I apply for yahoo publisher a while and I have been waiting for 6 months. I see other sites with less traffic than my sites and with yahoo ads. I just dont get it. Do I need to change my name from Jose to Joseph? Dont get it. One thing that google has but yahoo does not is they aproove you or not in a couple of days. yahoo takes for ever. Im my book that is not cool. I see some positngs about their phone support. Adsense might not have one but they have never left me out in the dark. They always repond to any of my question in no more than 24 hours. So far yahoo has not shown to me at least they are better. I make tons of money with adsense I doubt yahoo wants my business.

Adios

Is their another way to get up and started, like an invite.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The above things against Google Adwords is 100% true. That Google thieves never give amount when it exceeds some %200 to $300. I also had the same experience. even i suggested them to modify the system to ignore invalid clicks. But they are so arrogant that they treat small publishers as criminals. there words are so harsh, it really hurt the publishers. I have removed google search from my site http://www.mysoreonline.co.in. I am waiting for YPN. YPN should not make this type of mistake. they should just ignore the invalid cliks. then nobody will try to make invalid cliks. this is simple and can be easily done by google. But they purposefully they dont do it, becoz they want to steal the money of small publishers. Google will definetly collapse if this attitude is continued. We BAN GOOGLE FROM OUR WEBSITE. FRIENDS YOU ALSO DO THE SAME to teach a lesson to Google the Great thieves of twenty first century

How long does it take Yahoo to get back to someone when they sign up for YPN to let them know if they have been accepted or not?

Google are prats and the sooner people stop using them the better the net will be.

We are idiots for putting up with Google and it’s crappy arrogant attitude.

Here’s hoping that Yahoo take note of these comments and treat Publishers Fairly.

It doesn’t matter what anyone does someone will always try to beat the system.

But Google are taking the Pi** out of The Advertisers, Publishers, Affiliates and the Marketers.

Here’s To Yahoo knocking Google from it’s own self built pedestal and giving them a good kick where it Blo*dy Hurts, in their pockets.

Hello, I m from India. I just started website for mobile users with google’s adsense program. my earnings were too slow, finally i got PIN from google when my account reached 90 dollars. The same day i was banned for invalid clicks.
Dear friend and YPN staffs, Think about it.
I m not a silly person to click my own ads, and break google’s terms and conditions for just few dollars.
Its cheat. I didnt expect from a great invalid google adsense program. I expect YPN will have decent and honest publishing programs.

I expect YPN on india.
When will be it launch worldwide?…

hi every one
let’s protest worldwide where ever UR against google regarding steeling publisher’s money. Use the national or international media & tell them how google increased their profit in the past years (by looting publisher’s money). Advise advertisers not to advertise on google.
