I use it because it tells me whenever an email's been recieved, or reading my bookmars and RSS feeds from a computer which isn't mine, as well as easy links to Yahoo! properties. There's other uses for it besides the search box (which I use the least, because I have a search box within Firefox which can choose between searches which aren't even search engine sites). Nice to see the expansion on the Yahoo! Toolbar fro Fx. I hope that the latest bugfixes will be availible soon, such as the customize toolbar bug.
