No Platform Left Behind…

In February, we released href="http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000077.html">Yahoo! Toolbar
Beta for Firefox on Windows. At that time, some folks were able to
use it on other platforms, but now I’m proud to announce that Yahoo!
Toolbar officially supports Firefox for Mac and Linux too! Not only
that, but it’s available for the UK and Hong Kong.

Try it at:

US: toolbar.yahoo.com

UK: uk.toolbar.yahoo.com

Hong Kong: hk.toolbar.yahoo.com

We’ve made some improvements to the Windows version too, and it now
works with Anti-Spy just like Yahoo! Toolbar for IE.

So please give the latest Beta
version a try
and let us know what you think. And to all of you
who have sent us feedback, thank you for your help and support!

  1. Thanks for the Mac version.

Now all we need is support for Rich Text Mail in Firefox and I will be one happy camper!

(P.S. I don’t see what the hold up in this is since you support rich text editing in Firefox on the Yahoo! 360 blog beta.)

  2. Oh yeah… a new version of Yahoo! Messenger for the Mac would be nice too. The current version is severly outdated.

  3. No platform left behind? so what are you building for Internet Explorer ‘cuz that browser is a little old.

    Nice to see this happening!!!

  4. Thanks, I’m really looking forward to see Yahoo! Launch working under Firefox and a new version of Yahoo Messenger under Linux.

  5. what about Opera? you simply ignore or refuse to work with it. Come on guys … don’t alienate your fans.

  6. really good, would it be asking too much to be able to remove the antispy button? I don’t use this tool…
Looking forward to see a 306° button :)

  7. do yahoo have fans? ahh. comeon. Ya’ll trapped into death bed and flagged to like yahoo.. dontcha? ;)

  8. It’ll really be nice to finally see this working… under *nix & mac. ;-)

  9. Thank you for supporting Linux and Firefox.

  10. Yes, works nice. I’ll echo the plea for Launchcast for (64-bit) Mozilla, Linux and Opera. And could you strong-arm Macromedia for a 64-bit Flash?? Yeah, I’m greedy.

  11. What about a toolbar for Mozilla? Since Mozilla and Firefox are both based on the same core, it should be fairly easy to port this to Mozilla.

  12. Excuse me, but I dont see the utility of using “Yahoo! toolbar” ™ and I am not saying this with bad intentions. I’ve been a linux user for the last year and felt no need for it. Could anyone enlighten me?
One really usefull thing that linux users would love is a remake of the “messenger” (Respects to the Gaim crew).

  13. Well Lucian, it’s more of a novelty issue. I use it because it tells me whenever an email’s been recieved, or reading my bookmars and RSS feeds from a computer which isn’t mine, as well as easy links to Yahoo! properties. There’s other uses for it besides the search box (which I use the least, because I have a search box within Firefox which can choose between searches which aren’t even search engine sites).

Nice to see the expansion on the Yahoo! Toolbar fro Fx. I hope that the latest bugfixes will be availible soon, such as the customize toolbar bug.

I don’t know if Opera can be customised in such a way.

  14. Getting Yahoo! Launch is hopefully next up for working with Firefox. I love launch but I hate having to open IE in order to use it…

  15. I just started using mozilla browser, and I cant seem to get the yahoo toolbar. can anyone help?
