Desktop Search News
Well, it looks like this desktop search stuff is a pretty hot topic.
Who’d have thought?! :-)
We’ve seen a lot of write-ups since last night. Here’s a sampling:
- Stefanie Olsen at CNet
- Danny Sullivan of SearchEngineWatch
- John Battelle
- Richard Waters at The Financial Times
- Michael Liedtke of the Associated Press
As they’ve indicated, we’ll have much more to say in the coming weeks
and you can expect to see us talk more about it right here on the
Yahoo! Search blog.
Stay tuned…

Yahoo! Search

OMG ! I can’t wait! I’ve been waiting for that Yahoo tool for such a long time!
That is cool to hear. I wonder if it will be as good as Google’s?
Not to spite you guys…but we need competition here in the market. That’s what makes it great! That is why we have Democrats and Republicans…with third parties here and there.
With Yahoo!, Google, and…well…microsoft too (when will their destop search come out…does anybody know?) joining the fray (not to mention a host of others) it will be a good thing for the customers. Selah!
Absolutely competition is good. Otherwise how else would google figure out how to improve their product?
ey baba hame ke weblog dar shodan, faght man mondam vai!
This is good news. However, I’m really surprised you didn’t go with much better products like Blinkx or Copernic. X1 is crashing all the time and takes over 100MB of RAM.
Anyone remember Enfish? I was thrilled by it, but it never seemed to have caught on. At last, the public seems ready.
Damn the war broke out!
MSN just revealed their new suite at beta.toolbar.msn.com…it looks really complete indeed I hope Yahoo will provide a good tool as well !!!
whooppee!!
Hurry up Yahoo,i cant wait.
Just get it right b4 release(virus,s etc.)
Your then on your way.
This is great. I’m glad to see the Yahoo! tool finally out so that I can eval it. I just hope all the different desktop search tools I have whirring on my desktop agree with each other. My company, Viapoint (www.viapoint.com), is evaluating integrating smart organization as a plug-in to the desktop search tools. We are looking at Yahoo! as a next step after a release we have planned with Google Desktop Search.
